Psychedelic ego death is not a mere dissolution of one’s sense of self, but the dissolution of boundaries between concepts within one’s framework, allowing you to view the world as fluid; pure noise. This is the hippie cliche of unity, of “being one with nature/the world/Earth/the universe.” If it were simply the death of the ego, ‘you’ wouldn’t be part of ’everything’, as ’things’ have boundaries that wouldn’t include ‘you’.
Ego death is not a mere dissolution of one’s sense of self, but rather the dissolution of boundaries between concepts within one’s framework, allowing one to view the world as fluid; pure noise. This is the hippie-dippy feeling of unity, of “being one with nature/the world/Earth/the universe.”
Explain how ego death demonstrates first-hand the fuzzy, socially constructed boundaries of all objects & concepts, and how strict hierarchical arborescent ontologies are inaccurate representations of reality due to edge cases. Discuss parallels between OOP and arborescence. Discuss how more fluid rhizomatic ontologies better represent the world. Discuss how arborescence can lead to object fixedness.
